Sweet Guinea Pigs on the Adventuremobile

image

Announcing… On the Adventuremobile during the week of June 29th through July 3rd (drum-roll!): Cute pet guinea pigs!

Did you know..? Guinea pigs can make gentle and fun pets.  When they’re happy to see you, they make soft squeaky noises!  They wash themselves and keep very clean, but if people are allergic to rabbits or birds, they also may be allergic to guinea pigs.  Native to South America, they’re also called cavies. Adults weigh 1 1/2 to 2 lbs and live to be 5 or 6 years old.

Sh-sh-sh. Don’t tell your kids, but in some countries like Ecuador and Peru, wild guinea pigs are roasted and eaten. Their meat is very tasty. (We’ve heard.) In the United States, though, guinea pigs are only beloved pets.
