The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to host The Big Read 2009 in Topeka and Shawnee County. The Big Read in Topeka and Shawnee County will focus on To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In addition to encouraging everyone to read the book, the library will sponsor a series of special events during February 2009 at the library and throughout the community.
In 2009, the library will provide hundreds of copies of To Kill a Mockingbird to people in our community to encourage people to read and discuss the book together.
If your book group is interested in reading To Kill a Mockingbird as part of The Big Read, contact Jennifer Jones using this form or leave her a message 785-580-4681 to reserve copies of the book for your group. The kits for book groups will also include copies of the official readers guide for participants and an audio CD of interviews about the book. Please include your contact information and the approximate number of people in your book group. Kits will be available in early 2009.
Watch for more information about the Big Read to be released over the coming months!
