Why patrons love their library! National Library Week’s activities uncover what you love about the library. Tap into this story to see video montages of our patrons’ sharing their thoughts on the library. You might even see a face or two you recognize. And, you’ll find a place you can share your thoughts too!      Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library patrons overwhelmingly say the library is a resource that saves them money and improves their lives. “I just think this is Topeka’s—one of their very best resources,” Alice said. From the Millennium Cafe to the helpful staff members, high praise for the library was bountiful Tuesday during a video project recognizing National Library Week. “We love the library. We come here, get a chance to play with kids his age, get to rent movies for him, movies that cost money that are free here as long as you have your card,” John Vaughan said as he sat down with his son Armani. Dozens of others echoed John’s approval of the library’s collection of movies and the cost - nothing! Several others praised the library’s commitment to the arts. The latest exhibit, Girl Culture, left quite an impression with Anne Underwood, she said. “Right now, Girl Culture is going on and that has definitely helped my confidence and changed me as a person,” Underwood said. “And just the fact that our library is holding this is just amazing for not only young girls, but for Topekans and whoever would like to visit it.” Hank Avila praised our Interlibrary Loan service and said librarians, if they don’t already, should consider him a familiar face. “I will continue to visit the library because it is my favorite place,” he said. A frequent traveler, Connie Michaelis relies on our books on tape to listen to on long drives. “I get educated every day in my car because of the books on tape that I get from the library, and they are free and you don’t have to go buy them. It’s great, ” she said. The library also is a resource for people who have found themselves out of work. Sherry Culbertson is searching for employment after being laid off and attends the library’s computer classes to get her up-to-speed with current technology. The library has assembled job search kits to help those like Sherry. The bright blue bags can be found in the New Books, Music and Movies section or just ask one of our librarians, who are very helpful, Jack Beasley said. “You want to know what I like about the library?
