Welcome to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
But if you don't understand digital media, never fear. The library's digital media services will be highlighted during a visit by the Digital Bookmobile. This touring outreach vehicle, operated by OverDrive, Inc., will be in the library parking lot from 10am to 4pm Saturday, June 27.
"Some of the services are quite amazing. Along with our more standard offerings like Personalized Reading Lists and Interlibrary Loan, we offer books that can be downloaded and read right on your iPod or mp3 player. We have a whole online library of classical music," Nancy Overmyer, program supervisor, said.
The Digital Bookmobile is a 74-fooot, semi-tractor trailer that offers customers an experience in new media. They can learn what library resources can be tapped without stepping foot in the library.
The Digital Bookmobile promotes 24/7 access to a collection of eBooks, audiobooks, music and videos that are found online. Inside the Digital Bookmobile you can sample a downloadable movie or eBook and try out a number of portable reading devices and mp3 players.
The nationally touring vehicle will be in Topeka one day only. Come see its high-tech features and learn about the benefits of using the library's digital technology. For example, digital titles conveniently return themselves.
