Accepting Applications: Acquisitions & Processing Assistant - Final Day January 29

General Definition of work: performs technical work receiving, checking, and bar-coding library materials, reconciling invoices and purchase orders, distributing materials, filing records, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Performs semiskilled work processing library materials, preparing library materials for circulation, maintaining records, and related work as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: This position requires a high school diploma and general knowledge of acquisition and processing procedures; some knowledge of materials checking routine and procedures; ability to follow established procedures and to perform work requiring considerable detail; skill in the use of standard office and data entry equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

 Other Requirements: This position operates in public and nonpublic areas.  It requires a working knowledge of library technology such as computers, facsimile, copiers and audio/visual equipment. The work areas may contain book dust, molds, mildew and insects.  This medium level position requires manual dexterity, bending, lifting/carrying at least 20-50 pounds, ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force when pushing/pulling materials, reaching, and the ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone and stationary work at a computer terminal.  This position exists in a shared office environment with a need for cooperative interaction in many different circumstances.  Prompt arrival and regular, reliable attendance as scheduled is essential.  Evening and weekend hours may be required.  

 Compensation begins at $10.49 per hour.  Position is full time
