The Chandler Booktique, inside the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, will be blowing out its inventory of gently used books Sat., Jan. 9 from 9 am–4 pm.
“For the scavenger in any family, our Bag Day Book Sale will lead to lots of literary discoveries at very little cost,” said Bobbie Pfeifer, Chandler Booktique manager.
Shoppers can stuff brown grocery bags (provided) full of books for just $5 a bag. Both hardbound and paperback books on all topics will be available. Examples of topics include children’s, religion, health, large print, mystery and suspense.
The sale will be held in Marvin Auditorium, but shoppers are also encouraged to check out other deals at the Chandler Booktique, which is open 10 am–8 pm Monday through Thursday, 10 am –5 pm Friday and Saturday, and 2 pm–5 pm Sunday. All proceeds benefit the library.
The Bag Day Book Sale is new this year and supplements proceeds from our popular Friends Annual Book Sale, which will be held in September 17- 19, 2010.
“We are having a Bag Day Book Sale, thanks to community donors, who would rather see their books reused than throw them away,” Pfeifer said. “We’re seeing more and more people with that ‘green’ mindset, and we want to make space for donations in 2010.”
The Chandler Booktique also has an online bookstore. Log on to http://www.tscpl.org/friends for online deals.
The Chandler Booktique is owned and operated by the Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.
